Sen. Martin Heinrich mentioned what occurred Jan. 6 on the Capitol was a “violent and bloody assault on our democracy (that) was cultivated months of Donald Trump repeating a very baseless lie of election fraud, over and again and again.”

Sen. Ben Ray Lujan mentioned he “took no pleasure in voting to convict President Trump for inciting an rebellion towards the U.S. authorities.” However Lujan added that there was “little doubt that the previous president did every little thing in his energy to overturn the outcomes of the 2020 election.”
