Diane Velazquez wins seat on Apopka Metropolis Council in runoff election


APOPKA, Fla. – Diane Velazquez has received a seat on the Apopka Metropolis Council after a runoff election was held on Tuesday, based on unofficial outcomes on the web site of the Orange County Supervisor of Elections.

With all of the precincts reporting, Velazquez acquired 3,374 votes and Yesenia Baron acquired 2,407 votes.

Again in November, Velazquez had 42% of the vote.

Mandates state a candidate wants greater than 50 p.c to get the seat, Velazquez was in a position to hit the mark within the runoff on Tuesday.

She served because the Seat 2 commissioner from 2014-2018.
